Waterfox has been my choice for about 5 years now. I still keep Mozilla Firefox installed, but I've been using WaterFox portable version, and I'm loving it so far. With WaterFox, all my previous extensions (as named above) work great, and the option to (Not-update) holds. I've been burnt multiple times after uninstalling, removing profile folders and reg locations, then reinstalling an old version. Turning off auto update has not worked for me in over a year. Either way, every time they come out with an update now, extensions loose compatibility. To name a few: FireFTP, DownloadThemAll, NoScript. Now since the latest version at this time ( Quantum) Which by the way, was forced on users across the net, almost all the great extensions are not compatible. What made FF great were all the extensions that gave it functionality. They are not respecting backward compatibility of extensions when they make updates which are happening every few weeks. Hello to the new Microsoft.įirefox automatically updates even if you turn off all the updating options as well as the update service. Mozilla developers of Firefox have moved away from respecting user privacy to a total corporatism model of collecting user data and changing our settings without our permission. I just recently started using the fork of FireFox: WaterFox (also in portable ver) to replace Firefox.
